The challenge
Members entered the gym by scanning a keychain beacon, and paid upwards of $60 for it when they enrolled. Phones had become the one thing everyone carries, which made the beacon an unnecessary cost for members and the business.
What we built
- → NFC door access built into Anytime Fitness's existing app, working alongside their developers.
- → A digital pass in the phone's wallet that unlocks the door the same way contactless payment works.
- → A Bluetooth prompt that sends a push notification offering the pass when a member arrives at the gym.
The result
No more beacons to produce or buy, and a new everyday touchpoint with members that supports engagement and brand awareness. NFC is not new, but using it for gym door access was.
