Director of Software Engineering

Lab651 is seeking a creative, passionate, and energetic full-time position as our Director of Software Engineering. This is a fast-paced and exciting role in which you will be working with our highly experienced team of engineers that are passionate about their craft and doing what is best for our customers. We work in a collaborative and casual work environment on a number of exciting projects. You would be working closely with the founders of the company and splitting time between strategic planning and implementation by writing code. This is a crucial role to help enhance our company, our culture, and an opportunity for you to take control and participate in the success of Lab651!

Requirements:
  • Deep experience in technical architecture design
  • Proven experience in building scalable software systems and writing software in multiple languages
  • Prior experience leading and managing teams, locally or remote with direct reports
  • Prior experience working with budgets and resource planning
  • Agile & lightweight Kanban-style development process
  • Experienced in working on diverse teams and MVC architecture
  • Show examples of prior experiences of skilled leadership, writing code, and references
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
Bonus Qualifications:
  • Lives in the Minneapolis / Saint Paul, MN area
  • Has started their own technology services business or software startup before
  • Prior Director of Engineering Roles

Ruby on Rails Architect on AWS

Lab651 is seeking a creative, passionate, and energetic full-time, software Engineer with experience in Ruby on Rails on AWS. In this role, you will be working with a highly experienced and energetic team developing applications that ingest data and interface with objects in the physical world. We work in a collaborative and casual work environment on a number of exciting projects! We are seeking that special person who is passionate about their craft and wants to show the world what they are capable of!

Requirements:
  • Trustworthy, honest, and hardworking who is fanatical about finding solutions to help our customers solve their business challenges
  • 3-5 years of experience building API's and SAAS application using Ruby on Rails
  • 3-5 years of experience deploying and migrating Rails applications to AWS
  • Lives in the Minneapolis / Saint Paul, MN area
  • Experienced in working on diverse teams and MVC architecture

Embedded Lead Engineer

Lab651 provides software, embedded, and mechanical product development services that enable our clients to deliver new possibilities. We specialize in connected products and mobile/cloud applications for industrial, consumer, and retail solutions.
We are seeking talented and experienced Embedded Engineers that are looking for a fast-paced development environment with a broad range of product development opportunities. The engineers need to be self-directed and able to transform customer concepts into products and solutions.
What You Have:
  • BSEE degree or equivalent
  • Live in the Minneapolis/St Paul Metro area
  • 3+ years of electronic product development experience
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
What You Will Do:
  • Provide project estimates and quotations to potential clients
  • Document customer product requirements
  • Translate requirements into prototype designs
  • Develop hardware and firmware to meet requirements
  • Integrate and test product
  • Work with manufacturing partners on production readiness
