Project Manager

Lab 651 is seeking a creative, passionate and energetic Project Manager as a contract-to-hire to help our team build solutions that change the world. In this critical role, you will have the ability to contribute to building new processes, work face-to-face with our amazing clients and become deeply involved with our experienced team of Mechanical, Embedded and Mobile, Web & Data Science Engineers. As this is a central role in our growing organization and the career track for the right candidate will lead to many exciting opportunities within the business.

  • Requirements
    • 2+ years of Project Management experience working on a product involving software, hardware and physical product design.
    • Multiple examples of leading teams through requirements gathering and execution on projects for clients.
    • Excellent written and oral communication.
    • Able to work at times under tight timelines and deliver results.
  • Bonus
    • Worked with teams on projects involving multiple engineering disciplines.
    • Helped to identify process issues and define new business processes to address them.
    • Hands-on mechanical, electrical or software engineering or data science experience.
    • Experience in working in Connected (IoT) Products.

Embedded Wireless Engineer

Do you eat, sleep and breathe writing firmware to communicate with wireless devices? If so, we want to talk! We are looking for a bright and self motivated embedded engineer to join our team as a contract-to-hire at Lab 651. In this position you'll have the chance to make a massive impact on new and exciting connected products that we build for our customers and working with literally the most talented group of engineers in town.

  • Requirements
    • Experience with NRF5x devices
    • Experience with Nordic SDK with BLE
    • JTAG debugging is essential
    • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Ruby on Rails Engineer

By 2020, there will be 20 billion devices online and communicating with each other over the Internet. This next wave of technology continues to require more advanced cloud-based applications with API's and data aggregation. Join the team that is leading the industry in building advanced products for our customers. We're looking for a Ruby on Rails Engineer to join our team as a contract-to-hire.

  • Requirements
    • 1-3 years experience in Ruby / Ruby on Rails
    • A public repository of at least one of your projects (Github, Gitlab, etc.)
    • Local to the Twin Cities
    • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

    • Experience in Javascript, HTML, CSS
    • Experience with Git
    • Experience with PostgreSQL or Redis
    • Experience writing RESTful APIs

iOS Engineer

Are you sick of building boring apps that don't change the world? Want to build applications that interface with the physical world and control smart connected / IoT products? We're looking for a native iOS developer to join our team as an hourly engineer with benefits such as health, dental, 401K and vacation.

We provide a creative work environment including pop, snacks, ping pong, quarterly outings and a flexible work schedule. Best of all you'll be working on exciting projects with both large and small clients that involve learning cutting edge technology at the intersection of IoT. Through the products we build, you'll gain exposure to wireless, hardware, mobile applications, software and data science. At Lab 651, you have the ability to create change and move fast.

  • Requirements
    • Developed an iOS application in either Swift or Objective C
    • Published at least one application in the App Store
    • Share and sample code of a project you developed
  • Bonus
    • Experience with Android, Java / Kotlin
    • Experience with Bluetooth, BLE / iBeacon, or other wireless protocols connecting to devices
    • Work with charting, graphic or visualization
    • Experience with Unity or other gaming engines on mobile
    • Exploration of cross platform solutions such as React Native, Ionic or Xamarin

Android Engineer
